How this estimate is calculated

Every line in your breakdown is simply quantity × rate. Quantities come from the size you enter: a 2 BHK is assumed to have a 12-running-foot kitchen, about 100 sq ft of wardrobe shutters and a false ceiling over 60% of the carpet area, while offices and shops are priced per square foot of floor area (and per seat for workstations). The measuring rules are on our design standards page. Rates are indicative 2026 turnkey rates for Raipur and Bhopal — material, fabrication, delivery and installation — shown as a low–high band because brands, sizes and site conditions vary.

Bhopal adds 2% and elsewhere in CG / MP adds 8% for travel, transport and supervision. Each line is rounded to the nearest ₹1,000, so the totals are exactly the sum of the lines. Execution is shown excluding GST; you can add the 18% GST and the design fee as optional lines under the result, along with a typical payment schedule. The full rate card and fee structure are on pricing.

Guide

What drives interior design cost in Raipur and Bhopal

Two homes of the same size can differ in cost by three times. These are the levers that actually move the number — in roughly the order they matter.

1. Scope: how much you build

Joinery — the kitchen, wardrobes and TV unit — is the heaviest part of most budgets. In the calculator’s own rate model it is more than half of a core 2 BHK scope. New flooring and loose furniture are the next big jumps; if your builder’s vitrified tiles are in good condition, keeping them can save lakhs.

2. Board and hardware grade

BWR plywood (IS:303) is a sound default; BWP / marine ply (IS:710) costs more but belongs under kitchen sinks and on walls that see monsoon damp. HDHMR is a good termite- and moisture-resistant alternative; MDF and particle board are cheaper but don’t forgive water. Hardware — hinges, channels, drawer systems — is a small share of cost and the part you touch thousands of times a year, so it is the last place to economise.

3. Shutter and surface finishes

Laminate is tough and affordable; acrylic adds gloss; PU lacquer and veneer cost the most and need gentler care. Compare them in our guide to laminate vs veneer vs acrylic.

4. Site condition

A new bare-shell flat is the cheapest starting point. Renovations add demolition, re-plastering, electrical rework and — very often in central India — seepage repair before any interiors begin. See home renovation for how we approach older homes.

5. Decisions made late

Changes after carpentry starts cost the most: material already cut, factory orders already placed. Freezing drawings, finishes and lighting positions before execution is the single best cost control.

How to save without regretting it

  • Spend on what you touch daily — hardware, kitchen carcass, wardrobe internals.
  • Save on what you can change later — paint, curtains, rugs, some loose furniture.
  • Mix finishes — acrylic or PU on the shutters you see, laminate on lofts and interiors.
  • Don’t over-ceiling — a peripheral band with good cove and spot lighting often looks better than a full designer ceiling, for less.
  • Phase the décor — finish the built-in work first, then add furniture and art over a few months.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this interior cost calculator?
It is a scoping tool: it multiplies typical quantities for your home size by indicative 2026 Raipur / Bhopal rates and shows a low–high band. Most real projects land inside the band, but brand choices, site conditions (seepage, uneven walls, renovation work) and design detail can move the final figure. A precise, itemised quote follows a site visit and design brief.
What does interior design cost for a 2BHK in Raipur?
Using the calculator’s rates, core interiors for a typical 900 sq ft 2 BHK — modular kitchen, wardrobes, TV unit, false ceiling, lighting and painting — come to roughly ₹4.2 L – ₹5.7 L at Essential finish, ₹6.3 L – ₹8.6 L at Premium and ₹9.7 L – ₹14.1 L at Luxury, excluding GST. Adding new flooring, loose furniture and décor takes it to ₹7.5 L – ₹10.4 L (Essential) up to ₹20.5 L – ₹31.8 L (Luxury).
Does the estimate include GST?
The headline range is execution cost excluding GST. GST on interior design and works is 18%; tick “Add GST” under the result to see it as a separate line, and the range with GST is also shown under the headline figure.
Are design fees included?
No — the calculator estimates execution (materials, fabrication, delivery and installation). Design is charged separately: design + execution at 8%–12% of execution value; full design at ₹70–₹130 per sq ft of carpet area (minimum ₹60,000) if you hire your own contractor; or a consultation at ₹7,500–₹15,000 per session. Tick “Add design fee” under the result to include it, or see pricing and design packages.
What is the difference between Essential, Premium and Luxury?
Mostly materials and hardware. Essential uses BWR plywood or HDHMR with laminates and standard soft-close hardware; Premium moves to BWP plywood, acrylic or textured finishes, branded hardware and layered lighting; Luxury uses PU lacquer, veneer, glass, premium European-class hardware, marble or engineered wood. The full list is in the “What each finish level includes” table on this page.
Why does the location change the estimate?
Rates in Raipur and Bhopal are close. Bhopal adds 2% and elsewhere in CG / MP adds 8% (towns in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh beyond the two cities) to cover travel, material transport and site supervision.
How long does a full home interior take?
Design development usually takes 2–4 weeks. With all items in scope, execution after design sign-off is typically about 5–7 weeks for a 1 BHK, 6–8 weeks for a 2 BHK, 7–9 weeks for a 3 BHK and 9–12 weeks for a 4 BHK — longer for luxury materials with import lead times. See our process.
Do I have to share my phone number to see the estimate?
No. The calculator is free and runs entirely in your browser. The enquiry form under the result is optional — use it only if you would like a precise quote.
