Room Planner
Draw your room to scale, drag in furniture at real Indian sizes and see at once whether there is space to walk — then save the layout as an image to share with your family or carpenter.
Drag to move (snaps to 3 inches). Keyboard: Tab to an item, arrow keys move 3 in (Shift: 1 ft), R rotates, D duplicates, Delete removes, Esc deselects. Your plan is saved in this browser.

How to use
How to use the room planner
- Set the room’s width and length in feet, measured wall to wall.
- Add furniture from the library. Each piece is drawn at a common Indian size — a queen bed is 60 × 78 in, a 3-seater sofa about 7 × 3 ft.
- Drag pieces into place and rotate them. Use the X and Y boxes for exact positions from the left and top walls.
- Watch the clearance check. Walkways under 900 mm, tight bed sides, cramped wardrobe fronts, overlaps and blocked door swings are flagged in red.
- Download a PNG or copy the link — the layout is stored in the link and in this browser.
The maths
How it’s calculated
The planner checks every large piece against the walls and against each other, using the clearances in our design standards:
Main walkway : 900–1,000 mm clear
Beside a bed : 600–750 mm (450 mm absolute minimum)
At the foot of a bed : 750–900 mm
In front of a wardrobe : 750–900 mm
Behind dining chairs : 900–1,000 mm from the table edge
Also flagged : overlaps, and furniture inside a door swing
Small, low pieces — coffee and side tables, bedside tables, chairs and plants — are meant to sit close to others (a coffee table 400–450 mm from the sofa), so they are only checked for overlaps. A furniture footprint above about 45–50% of the floor usually feels crowded.
Worked example
Fitting a queen bed into a 10 × 12 ft bedroom
- A queen bed is 5′ × 6′6″ (60 × 78 in). Centred on the 10 ft wall with its head against it, it leaves (10 − 5) ÷ 2 = 2′6″ (762 mm) on each side — the comfortable end of the 600–750 mm needed beside a bed.
- From the foot of the bed to the opposite wall: 12 − 6.5 = 5′6″. A hinged wardrobe 23 in deep there leaves about 3′7″ (1,090 mm) — more than the 750–900 mm needed in front of a wardrobe.
- Swap in a king bed (6′ wide) and each side drops to 2′0″ (610 mm) — right at the 600 mm minimum.
